Membership Types

SCB offers Full and Associate memberships. Learn about each type below and find a complete list of membership benefits on the Membership Benefits page of the SCB website.

Full Membership

Full membership is for individuals working directly to advance the science and practice of conserving Earth's biodiversity, including conservation and social scientists, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, professors, and students who through their specialized conservation expertise and research contribute directly to biodiversity conservation.

Full members' primary focus is on biodiversity conservation and research. SCB's mission relates directly to their expertise, career focus, or primary professional identity. They view SCB as their primary society in terms of professional development, networking, research, and involvement in the field of biodiversity conservation.

SCB Regions

SCB has six Regions, one each for Africa; Asia; Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Islands; Europe; North America; and South and Central America and the Caribbean. Regions are vital elements within the Society working regionally on issues to achieve our common goal. When you join SCB, you will also be able to choose your Region.

Regions take SCB's mission and goals and implement them on a regional scale to achieve real results. Joining a Region enables you to make your voice heard on issues that affect your conservation interests.
